Exploring our creativity through holds.

MEET THE TEAM

Foxman MCJ

Phoenix, AZ

Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, Foxman received her Master in Music from the Boston Conservatory and worked 10 years as a musician and educator before pivoting to work full-time as a routesetter.

As she started traveling to set competitions, head routesetters and gym owners consistently asked me why more women weren't routesetting. Realizing that this question wasn't going away, she has spent the last number of years deep in conversation with industry leaders and female climbers, researching why women aren't entering and staying in the industry at the same rate as their male counterparts.

She has brought her background in education into her routesetting career, teaching women's routesetting clinics around the country. She is passionate about continuing the conversation of how we can make our industry more welcoming and inclusive.

Justin Wright

Seattle, WA

Justin began his routesetting journey back in his home state of Massachusetts in 2008. Fast forward to now: His passion for climbing evolved into a career.  He is a level 4 USAC certified routesetter that has developed routesetting teams across the country.

His focus over the last few years has revolved around the professionalization of routesetting and the creation of mentorship and education programs. This gave way to the formation of Vortex and the industry data project on Routesetter Salary, Workload, and Safety at the CWA Summit in 2022.

As a contributing member of the CWA’s Routesetting and Work At Height Committees, Justin is committed to helping move the climbing industry forward by developing routesetter education pathways and recommending best practices with volunteer Work at Height standards.
